My Final Thoughts
Kirsten Bedford | poetry
On the matter are thorny, freezing, and rotting with disdain.
God was only born to spite me, but
there she is suddenly. A ladybug, so sweet and divine.
Dancing on the roll of paper.
Two inches from my pinky, I promise.
Two inches to my heart, I’ll cross it.
Her tiny feet stomp on the back of my hand.
I let her kiss my dry skin into something supple and savory.
It’s satisfying enough that I can move on.
Forget about spite.
Forget about God.
Remember only her strange fascination of me and
my strange fascination of her.
